Moving Closer To Video Game Testing Companies 0

You did realize that you will have to move to where all the video game testing companies are if you want a game testing job didn’t you?

Good… I thought so.

Every now and again you might hear of those people making six figure incomes just sitting at home, but let me tell you they are the rare exceptions. You really are better off basing your life around winning the lottery than getting a job like that.

Now to get a proper game testing job, your best chance is to move to a city where there are a lot of video game companies. This means more potential positions to apply for, and more opportunity to expand your skills and gain experience in the industry.

Build A Good Game Tester Reputation 0

As mentioned in the game tester’s manifesto, you may find yourself in a testing job that really isn’t that great. Or you may just be looking to move up into a higher testing position.

Either way, the key thing if you want to change jobs within the one company is to build a good reputation. Once that is done, you will find that moving around is so much easier.

There’s probably going to be a lot of people all trying to do the same thing though, so here are a few tips to separate yourself from the group and get ahead:

Is Game Testing Really Worth The Effort? 0

If you’ve read the whole course, you would have realized that it does take a fair amount of work to become a game tester.

(If you haven’t read the whole course yet, I urge you to get around to it as soon as possible. You aren’t going to become a game tester by doing nothing.)

But back to the topic of this email: you’ll probably realize too that game testing (like all jobs) is not perfect, and you will have to work pretty hard even to get a testing job in the first place
So is it all worth it?
